The Secrets of
"Guitar Queer-o"

"Dude, dude, that's Ron Zappolo from Channel 4 News!" - Ron Zappolo is actually the co-anchor of the 9 O’clock news at KDVR Fox31 in Denver.

"that's that Jake Jabs guy from American Furniture Warehouse commercial" - yep, and he's also President and CEO of the company.. He's taken a cue from Cal Worthington.

"Chasing the dragon" is an appropriate term for someone who takes heroin, as heroin is derived from opium, an Asian plant, and a dragon is a very recognizable Asian symbol. Heroin is something you need more and more of, so it's like a dragon you keep going farther and farther to get. But it's never enough.

"Oh my God this is so awesome." - Stan and Kyle rarely fight, so when they do, it makes Cartman VERY happy. :D

A sixth grader is at Mick's Lanes as Kyle plays "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

Seems Butters is a good friend of Stan's. He knew what Stan had been doing for three days straight, even though you don't normally see them talk to each other on the show.

The Okama Gamesphere has an alternate name now: The O-Box.

Much of the dialog and Thad's parting "I quit" lilt comes from That Thing You Do! (1996), about a fictional one-hit wonder rock band from Erie, Pennsylvania called The Wonders, that broke up shortly after their only hit single in 1964. In the movie, they bring in a bassist when theirs joins the marines, and one of the other members of the band asks if he can "handle our music" like Stan asks of Thad. The lead singer quits when he's asked to sing "That Thing You Do" in Spanish and a second up-tempo song.

Songs featured in the episode:
"Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas (played throghout)
"Surrender" by Cheap Trick (played when Stan and Kyle try to reach 60,000 points)
"Cherry Pie" by Warrant (played by Stan and Kyle as Mr. Kincaid watches and snaps his fingers)
"John the Fisherman" by Primus (played by Stan and Kyle, then by Stan and Thad)
"I Wanna Be Sedated" by The Ramones (played by Stan and Thad at the arcade)
"Every Rose" by Poison (played by Kyle at Mick's Bowling Lanes)
"Pretty Vacant" by Sex Pistols (played by Stan solo at the arcade)
"I Remember You" by Skid Row (played by Kyle before Stan arrived to mend their friendship)
"Woman" by Wolfmother (played until the boys hit 1,000,000 points, after which you see "YOU ARE FAGS" onscreen)

"You and Me, Girl" by the Splendifs (from "Spontaneous Combustion" where Randy, Sharon, Stan and Kyle play the song - they are the Splendifs. :D)
