The SP Timeline 2013

Hiatus 2013

  1. January 6, 2013 - Winter hiatus, nothing to report, so here are some dates to remember:
    February 25 - The Book of Mormon begins previews at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
    March 21 - The Book of Mormon premieres at the Prince of Wales Theatre. Matt and Trey will probably be there to oversee how the play is doing, so the 17th season may begin as late as April 24. One may expect the Season 16 DVD set and The Stick of Truth to come out on April 23, but that is subject to change.
  2. January 16, 2013 - "South Park" Creators to Start Company, Important Studios. Yes, Matt and Trey are finally starting their own production company, which means that South Park will likely end in four years if Important Studios takes off. One of their plans is to bring The Book of Mormon to the big screen. I wish them well, but I'm still waiting for the start date for Season 17 as well as the Season 16 DVD set release date. South Park: The Stick of Truth is set to drop on March 5.
  3. January 23, 2013 - South Park Studios Fights THQ Over Sale of The Stick of Truth. Long story short: either THQ publishes the game, or there will be no game unless South Park Studios approves the sale of the game to Ubisoft. It looks like THQ has the upper hand on this one. I mean, who cares who publishes it, as long as the game is already complete and ready to roll out?
  4. January 24, 2013 - So here's how "South Park: The Stick of Truth" fared in yesterday afternoon's auction (Thanks to Kotaku):
    License; South Park: The Stick of Truth is due for release March 5.
    Winning bidder: Ubisoft, $3,265,306
  5. January 27, 2013 - Looks like South Park won't be back on the air until September 25, and there will only be 10 episodes a year from now on. This site, and the South Park Studios message board (which is riddled with spammers who have gotten past the captchas), will be pretty quiet until the season begins eight months from now. This sucks. But Matt and Trey now have Important Studios and need to tend to that, a new reality show to produce featuring Les Claypool and Mickey Melchioondo, and the movie version of TBoM to start work on, as well as the Stick of Truth to hash out with Ubisoft, so they'll be set when South Park goes off the air. Now, we'll still have South Park until 2016, and MnT want to keep the show going after that, but we don't know what's going to happen then. The New Yorker has an article on MnT's future plans. Check it out.
  6. February 13, 2013, 2013 - In light of Pope Benedict's abdication of the papacy for health reasons, soneone has suggested a certain religious figure for the papal throne:
  7. March 30, 2013 - No new South Park this Spring. Boooooo! Oh well, at least there's some news on The Book of Mormon: The Musical. Maybe they'll get some Oscar nominations, and then some Oscar wins the year after the movie comes out. The highlights:
    1. Creation of Important Studios. BOM will be the first movie these studios will make.
    2. Too many details released - whom they'd like to star in it (Justin Bieber - but you can take that with a grain of salt).
    3. Change in South Park production schedule - 10 episodes instead of 14 (but this will be ongoing, not just for this year).
  8. April 28, 2013 - Park Fest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 16th, 2013 at the Falls Church Presbyterian Church in Falls Church, Virginia. Quite the move from a summer event, heh.
  9. May 2, 2013 - Yesterday night, South Park Studios (@SouthPark) hosted a live Twitter event for "Make Love, Not Warcraft." Here are the tweets and images @Southpark posted.
  10. June 13, 2013 - Matt and Trey have been doing the rounds at E3 for "South Park: The Stick of Truth". Here are two articles and a video about it. :)
    Q&A: Trey Parker, Matt Stone talk "South Park: The Stick of Truth" video game at E3 (The Washington Post, Business)
    South Park: The Stick of Truth - Matt Stone & Trey Parker on South Park: The Stick of Truth - IGN Live - E3 2013 (IGN)
  11. June 25, 2013 - IGN reports that Season 16 will come out on DVD and BRD on September 24, the day before Season 17 begins. Our long national nightmare will soon be over, lol.
  12. July 2, 2013 - Some overdue updates on the Trey Parker and Matt Stone page - their marriages, and Trey's divorce and current relatiionship.
  13. July 17, 2013 - The South Park Calendar for the rest of this year (subject to change):
    1. July 18 - Comic Con panel about "The Stick of Truth." MnT reveal that they've got four of the ten episodes planned out.
    2. End of August - Writers will go on a writers' retreat to flesh out the episodes.
    3. September 24 - Season 16 comes out on Blu-ray and DVD (but it's been on iTunes for months now)
    4. September 25 - Season 17 begins
    5. November 19 - "The Stick of Truth" is set to hit stores.
  14. August 22, 2013 - DVD and Blu-ray art for Season 16 was released some time ago. Pre-order at Amazon - DVD: $28.89, Blu-ray: $37.99. You can check out large versions of the cover art there. :)
  15. September 16, 2013 - From Saturday's Creative Arts Emmy Awards. :) Yes, it won its fifth Emmy. :D
    (Programming One Hour or Less):
    "Raising The Bar"

    Comedy Central: Anne Garefino, Executive Producer;
    Deborah Liebling, Executive Producer;
    Trey Parker, Executive Producer/Writer/Director;
    Matt Stone, Executive Producer

  16. September 21, 2013 - Changes to this site: two seasonal updates instead of four in the timeline. That's about it, lol. New episodes begin in four days. South Park Studios is using social media on its site now, with live tweets before the new episodes, and Facebook plugins thoughout the site. It has its own wiki section now, which promises to be more exhaustive than my dyns. We'll see about that. :)
  17. September 21, 2013 - Starting tonight and for 95 hours... The marathon will be comprised of 94 hours, 59 minutes and 40 seconds of "South Park" content online, including Matt Stone and Trey Parker's "Year of the Fan" commentary to introduce the Top 15 episodes, as well as the full-length "6 Days to Air" documentary about the making of "South Park." I wanna hear the bolded commentary! Anyhow, the announcement mentions 234 episodes. We know that there have actually been 237 episodes, and we already know which three episodes won't be streaming on the site any time soon, and thus won't be part of the marathon, so that's that.

Fall 2013

  1. September 23, 2013 - Cartman infiltrates the NSA in an all-new episode of "South Park" titled, "Let Go, Let Gov," Premiering Weds at 10p. With the changes being made to South Park Studios, there may not be press release video. I'll figure it out.

  4. New South Park links to add to my directory. All of them are official links for the show. I'm sure there are more, and boy do the Studios' Web masters have their work cut out for them, lol. The new look the Studios had for a week has been shelved for now, but may come back if they get the kinks worked out.
