      BEST ANIME PARODY, AMERICAN DIVISION

      South Park

Over the years, The Simpsons has turned in some spot-on spoofs of Japanese pop culture, from Mister Sparkle to Battling Seizure Robots. But no American parody has ever skewered an anime title with such wickedly scatological precision as Comedy Central's South Park, in the deservedly legendary Chimpoko-mon episode. With its eerily plausible cast of collectible monsters, its perfect mimicry of kid-vid technobabble, and even parodies of lame American toy ads for balance's sake, South Park's spoof was pretty much the last word in Pokémon parody.

The South Park 5th Anniversary Special

August 13, 1997 ...a date that will be remembered in cable television history as the day that the world was introduced to Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny. Five years later they are still going strong (except for poor Kenny). The best of the best have been collected in "The South Park 5th Anniversary Special," a pay-per-view event from COMEDY CENTRAL in partnership with iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, Echostar and TVN throughout the months of September (premiering 9/3) and October.
The Anniversary Special will consist of three episodes from the series uninterrupted for the first time ever on television. It will celebrate five years of "South Park" with favorite episodes, best highlights and an exclusive look at an all-star, celebrity invited packed party celebrating the milestone. Also included will be special footage of the series' creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, hosting the block. Commentary is also provided by celebrities including Danny DeVito, Hugh Hefner, Chris Klein and Jay Leno.
The special will be going for $6.95 and will be available to subscribers via iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, Echostar and TVN beginning Tuesday, September 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET and run through the months of September and October. It will also be available in Spanish.
